TreffenWe drove to Mannheim on 25th February, 2011. We met at 8.15 a.m. The bus arrived at 8.30 a.m. Now we could start our adventure! We traveled for about one and a half hours. And then we arrived at the Technoseum in Mannheim. The Americans had already been waiting there. Our first impression was that the Americans were not fat and that they had no dark skin color. That is what most people had thought they would look like.

We walked around in international groups. There were always two German students and one AmericanTreffen student in a group.  Walking in groups was fun. We learned many things about America and the language. A few students produced paper, other students only talked to each other. We had to complete a questionnaire about the museum. The questions were in German, and so we had to translate the questions for the Americans. That was a little bit difficult, because there were words, which we hadn't learnt yet. So we couldn't translate everything. But it was ok, because we talked about other things and the questionnaire was not so important to us. We were surprised that the Americans were so good at German. Ok, a few couldn't speak German, but it was ok because our English was good.
TreffenAt 12.30 a.m. the Americans had left. We had spent 2 hours in the museum with them. That was a really good experience and we were sad because we were allowed to go to the city, but the Americans weren't. That was not so good. Well, we went to the city center for an hour. In the city center we went to McDonald's, of course! At 14.45 we went back to Philippsburg.

It was a great day and we agreed: We would like to meet the Americans again!
And one thing was clear to us: All the prejudices about the Americans are not true. We have seen and experienced it. Americans are just ordinary people like us Germans. Not all of them have dark skin or are fat!!!
